Strawberry Pineapple Chia Bowl

This is a Strawberry Pineapple Chia Bowl with a tablespoon of organic strawberry jam and shredded coconut on top! This is a great meal for breakfast and it's very fast and easy to make.
Chia seeds are loaded with nutrients with very few calories. Chia seeds are tiny black seeds from the desert plant Salvia hispanica, which is related to the mint. They can be black or white, brown ones means they are unripe. Chia seeds were an Ancient "Super-Food" for the Aztecs and Mayans. The etymology of the word “Chia” comes from the language of the ancient Mayan civilization meaning “strength”. They prized them for their ability to provide sustainable energy. They store well and last for a long time which makes them great for traveling.
Chia seeds don’t have much flavor. They can be added to a wide range of foods to offer texture. They form a gel-like pudding or binding agent when mixed with liquid. Chia can be substituted for eggs or used as a soup thickener.
They contain healthy omega-3 fatty acids, carbohydrates, protein, fiber, antioxidants and calcium. One ounce (about 2 tablespoons) contains 139 calories, 4 grams of protein, 9 grams fat, 12 grams carbohydrates and 11 grams of fiber, plus vitamins and minerals.
When hydrated they expand to 12 times their size therefore many people like to hydrate them before consuming them. They are very low in calories and often said to help lose weight and simply healthy for everyone to eat and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup plant milk I used almond in this recipe but use your favorite.
  • 1 tbsp strawberry jam
  • 1/4 cup fresh cut strawberries
  • 1/4 cup fresh diced pineapple
  • 1 tsp shredded coconut

Instructions

  • Mix chia seeds and plant milk and stir to make sure chia seeds are fully hydrated.
  • Add 1 tbsp of organic strawberry jam.
  • Sprinkle diced pineapple and strawberries and coconut on top.
  • Enjoy this delicious and healthy breakfast!
