Happy New Year beautiful people! Wow, so much has happened in the past year and now it’s time for reflection and setting intentions. Here’s an overview of the end of my year.
Over the holiday break I had a chance to go home and visit family. It was bitter sweet because I loved seeing my kids play with all their young cousins but also we had two dear uncles die and a mother. The kids really had a blast and played and played and played. The new generation kept the air light with laughter. River has a cousin Edison who is a spitting image of him and they played dinosaurs and legos until they couldn’t keep their eyes open any longer. I never heard River talk so much all year. He just loves this little boy. Pepper and Madeline were the sweetest friends too. Madeline is 6 and Pepper is 7 and they played dress up and house in her secret room in her bedroom. Uncle Brent finished off the attic room behind Madeline’s room and build a miniature kid playroom. It was adorable, I have to admit! Uncle Brent showed us tons of high tech gadgets in his house and car and I have to say, it’s cool how he knows how to work all this stuff! Kids had Mario cart race wars and played on their cousin’s outdoor play set. Madeline slept with Pepper draping her arms and legs over her like she was a life size teddy bear. As I peek into the room to give them good night kisses I see Madeline fast asleep on Pepper and Pepper smile at me, all happy. Aunty Kristina gave us a running tour of the Baha’i House of Worship in Wilmette, IL. It’s always interesting for me to see different places of worship and how so many of them are similar. We meditated under the grand white cathedral ceilings and I simply listened. What do you want to tell me God, I’m listening? I’ve noticed my energy being chaotic with being out of my normal routine. I realized that I really love my life and the cadence of my day to day life. I love that we get to travel to visit relatives but I also love being home. While in the Chicagoland area, we got to visit old friends, laugh and see some theater. I just love my beautiful friends back home. I am inspired, I laugh so much and I just feel like myself without a mask.
Prairie Du Sac, Wisconsin
After Chicago we go to Prairie Du Sac and visit grandparents, aunts, uncles and more! My kids got to play with so many more cousins! Pepper asked for a real baby for Christmas and she got her wish granted! Aunty Julie and Uncle Matt had 7 month old baby Silas ready for Pepper’s welcoming arms. It was so beautiful to hold a baby again and Pepper wanted Silas hugs and giggles as much as I did:) . Then we had cousins Jayden, Jemma and Jamison who are all similar ages to Pepper and River. Again, they took off playing and were disinterested in us grown ups:) . They played legos and with all their new toys. Grandma Sue and Grandpa Bob always did host the best Christmas’s with lots of present exchanges, food and family. Aunty Jody and Uncle Jon took us through a running tour of the train tracks that were turned into a bike trail along the wooded Wisconsin river and showed us the dam that connects Lake Wisconsin to the Wisconsin River. It was warmer out and there were lots of fishing boats out at the edge of the dam. Jody’s dogs ran with us up and down the hills with tongues out and it looked like doggie smiles:)
Overview and Intentions
We had a nice time over break and I had a great year. So many changes have happened with my parents getting sick, remodeling my house and learning how to run an online business. I’m sad about my parents getting sick but I’m also happy to have been able to be there for them. I’ve been growing a lot and lately I’ve been very happy. Right now the house is quiet, the air is cool back in Florida and I’m enjoying the stillness. The kids have no school today and Pepper starts tomorrow. I just finished a two day intensive flow and arm balance workshop with the fabulous Kenneth Frisby from Laughing Lotus Yoga in New York. It was awesome and I’m inspired to stay humble, keep learning and keep growing. At our yoga break I was able to visit my dad with Alzheimer’s and take him for a short walk outside to get some fresh air. He loves walking and it’s the one thing that I can help him with while he takes his fragile steps forward. He is fighting for his life, I know, even though his mind has left him. He wants to still live. I feel happy every time that I get to see him. I love my dad very much. I always have. I also love my children and I’m really loving all the beautiful people who have touched my life. Love is in my life and I’m blessed.
